Conversion and Call to Ministry

From early childhood, my parents were faithful to teach me the gospel; my earliest memories include learning the Bible in Sunday school. Having heard the gospel so often at home and at church, I was convinced very early that I was a sinner without hope apart from Jesus. I professed faith in Christ at age six and was soon baptized.

As I continued to grow in God’s grace, I struggled long for a sense of assurance of salvation. Whenever the pastor asked the congregation whether we were sure we were saved, I would think, “I’m pretty sure.” I knew about the finished work of Christ. I knew that Jesus’ work on the cross was enough to save every repentant sinner. But I still wondered if my faith was sincere. One of my teachers in high school pointed me to Philippians 1:6: “I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” This verse helped me take my eyes off myself and the relative strength of my faith and look again to Jesus and his sufficiency. At this point, I realized I had to dedicate my life to this work.

After returning home from University, I announced my desire to pursue pastoral ministry. My church appointed me to attend Seminary and my family has always been very supportive of my call. I have personally experienced the power of the Word of God to enlighten hearts, and the impact of weekly worship to call us back again and again to walk in the new life we’ve been given. My greatest desire is to help people, through a ministry of teaching and discipleship, experience God in his Word the way I have.

Affirmation of Faith

I believe the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 is a faithful summary of the doctrines revealed in Holy Scripture.
