Making friends in church

From my pastor in Kentucky, on making friends in Church:

Tim Keller hits the nail on the head when he writes, "A Pastor is required to befriend a lot of people that he would never otherwise choose as friends." I wonder, are you following the example of your Pastors? I find that many times people leave Churches because they are unwilling to do the hard work of befriending, and staying friends with people they do not have much in common with. People leave because there are not enough people with backgrounds like mine, skin color like mine, trials like mine, personalities like mine, marriage is like mine, miscarriages like mine, or jobs like mine. They leave in search of more people with their struggles, and the Pastor states. After all, "a pastor is required to befriend a lot of people that he would never otherwise choose his friends." I wonder, are you following the example of your Pastors?
